Hewescraft Story

While serving his country in WW II, Bob Hewes & a few friends began making plans for their lives back home in Washington once the war ended.  As they were all avid fishermen, they decided that they would build their own fishing boats from scratch. Being a little short on cash, but long on initiative, Bob & his three buddies bought the aluminum sheets and other raw materials they needed for the four boats from a scrap metal dealer in Spokane, WA. Once the first three boats were built, Bob's three friends decided they were no longer interested in helping Bob finish the last boat - which was to be his. Undeterred by the lack of support, but encouraged by his new found love for boat building, Bob recruited the assistance of his younger brother Ralph to help construct the fourth boat. It was during the process of bringing the fourth boat to completion that the Hewes brothers birthed a family business!



The Brothers' passion to build functional & affordable aluminum boats for fishing families in Canada & the USA is still the life blood of Hewescraft Boats 59 years later!
Even though Bob & Ralph have long since retired, the company is now guided by the second generation family leadership of Bill & Dave Hewes.

Even though Hewescraft has seen & experienced many changes in the industry over the past six decades, the core values  that hve driven the company remain fixed & unmovable. Hewescraft considers the people who buy & enjoy their boats to be members of the Hewescraft family.

Hewescraft builds nine different series of boat models in dozens of different option configurations and sizes ranging from 16’ to 26’. The experience, technology, & craftsmanship of over 125 employees have made these all-welded, heavy gauge, aluminum boats the benchmark for fishing vessels everywhere. Hewescraft boats are often copied, but never reproduced.

Kicker Motors
One very popular option many of my clients add to their Hewescraft Boat is a "Kicker Motor" for the purpose of trolling at lower speeds on the river, lakes or ocean. The typical horse power for this application is 9.9. The Mercury Pro-Kicker series or Yamaha High Thrust 9.9 motors mount easily to a transom or swim deck platform with a bracket.

Kicker Motors can come with a few options themselves, such as electric start, power trim as well as an added Panther Steer product for controlling the motor from the driver's seat of the boat. Prices vary on these outboards, but range from $3600 to $4800.
